Öof TaTaTá
Sometimes we share journeys with our friends.
Sometimes we share journeys with our friends. Sometimes our paths separate and we do our own thing. And sometimes life braids the trails and tributaries back together for a brief crossing before scattering again towards our individual trials and tribulations. The time in between visits changes us, with years, of course, and also with experiences, opportunities, expanded maps, and the call of new horizons. Jason always crosses back into my life when I need him and his energy. His love.
One year ago Jason invited Blair (@blairspeed on this platform) and I to photograph the first live show that his band, Öof TaTaTá, ever played. Afterwards I wrote about the nervousness and joy that marks every new thing we ever try or do, and that taking chances is what life is about. Last weekend the band played their second show in Bozeman and it was spectacular; the boys — Jason Momoa, Mike Hayes, Kenny Dale Borill — were tight and on fire, and it was the best show they have ever played.
The show's highlight was a special guest appearance by Jason's son, Wolf, who tore a hole in the space with his Flying V. Witnessing father and son jam together, Jason's pride and enthusiasm, his love and admiration, Wolfie's confidence, his ability ... it was incredible. And it looked so natural; nothing but love and energy and making art live in front of a wildly supportive crowd. We all were fortunate to see and feel something so special, and unforgettable.
I look forward to the next trail or tributary that brings us together.
