Someone once said, “Eventually, I sickened of people, myself included, who didn’t think enough of themselves to make something of themselves- people who did only what they had to and never what they could have done.  I learned from them the infected loneliness that comes at the end of every misspent day.  I knew I could do better. “ I love quotes and I keep a handful of them top of mind. This is one of them. Thanks 🤔

I did a search to see when that passage was last published and damn, to pull up that quote means you've been reading my words for a while. Thank you. I would hate to look back and realize I had done only what I had to and never what I could have ...

I found that passage and it led me to the book…just in case you ever wonder if what you write matters to people.

I am staring down the barrel of 50 years old this year and timely reminders...."You can’t cheat death, but you can make death work for it."

Thanks Mark, great to see this sub stack.

I opened up refuge as the pages were far too pristine and then had to seek out your words again - look forward to more Mark.

Life is as good as I am making it.

An outstanding nudge. If I'm being honest, the wounds I've earned out on the proverbial field of play healed much faster than the ones that scarred my mind from wasting away on the sidelines. Reminds me of the quote, "The trouble is you think you have time."

This is a true and heavy idea, "The trouble is you think you have time." We all thought that at one point or another and it's a tough habit to break.
