"Every human being on this planet would love to make that side go away. Wishing it away, ignoring the danger and the consequences, they can make believe it no longer exists."
Sadly, that is the thinking that got the world to its current state, unfortunately. People (well, in the "west, and developed world") believing that "we are an evolved species and we do not worry ourselves with animalistic things such as danger and our own dark nature."
"Among those mountains however, I learned there were teeth..." and "Real consequences change the experience, wholly. Perception is heightened, stimulus leaves a deeper and longer lasting impression, relationships take on greater weight and meaning when exposed to the tempering fire of risk."
Right there, I believe, is the key to the first point I mentioned. If people would live, experience, share with one another risks and danger, then maybe we all would be different. Yes, start with “Attitude and Character”, but then go "on the wet" and do it.
Anyway, I'll stop the rant. It was a great read Mark.
