This was beautiful man. Anyone that has participated in an endurance sport or endured extremely harsh conditions, for extended periods, in nature, recognizes everything you described and where they fell short (if they are honest). This is a mirror, but also a walk down memory lane. I loved this!
Thank you. The length of exposure to effort, to stress, changes and rewires in a way that 'mere' intensity cannot. And reading that a piece of writing hits, guiding someone to memories of experiences, reminds that the writing and editing are worth whatever the cost may be. 🙏🏻
This is the stuff that changed my approach to coaching and if I am being honest to life. Trying to impose these lessons on the current generation is a task to say the least.
The moments of inquiry and self-examination — driven by actual, difficult experience —that shaped us are indeed tough to share (or impose) on those who have not shared similar experiences. And whosoever has experienced those situations need not be told. How then may we communicate the important lessons to those who access them virtually? I am at a loss sometimes.
Impose is the wrong word... instill would be more appropriate. We can show them a path, they still have to walk it. I think that is the hardest part about being a coach/educator. Not everyone is ready to learn or willing to walk the path.

This one. 🫀
This is deep, deep water.
"It is not when truth is dirty, but when it is shallow, that the lover of knowledge is reluctant to step into its waters."
Deep water transforms us.
